About MYOS Beeswax

From Point Roberts Washington to the World

Why Beeswax?

Beeswax candles release negative ions into the air. Though the science behind why this is useful is complex, in short it helps to eliminate dust and pollen. As you can see, beeswax candles are highly beneficial to have in the home and combat many of the negative side effects that come with lighting standard petroleum based candles. Other than the health benefits, beeswax candles set a cozy ambience that nobody will complain about.

We use both white and yellow beeswax, some candles will be darker than others as it's a different batch of wax from a different part of the world. Beeswax is very forgiving when adding tint for color. Our slightly tinted candles contain an extremely small amount in microns of candle dye that is virtually undetected.

MYOS Beeswax is a small Artisan studio located in a truly unique place called Point Roberts Washington U.S.A. We specialize in Hand Crafted 100% Beeswax Candles. Many of our candles have an extra custom touch by an Artisan's hand, which makes them just as unique as the place we live. If you have any questions or see something in the gallery that is not listed on the product line let us know, we can help you out. Thank You.

Enjoy!

Beeswax Burning Tips

  • Never burn a candle that is not within sight.

  • Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents.

  • Never touch or move a candle when the wax is liquid.

  • Never burn a candle directly on or near anything flammable.

  • Always use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use.

  • Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.

  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.

  • Trim candlewicks to one quarter inch each time before burning.

  • Make sure all candles are completely out before leaving the room.

  • Straighten the wick after it has been extinguished.

  • Keep wicks trimmed to 1/4″ or less to prevent soot.

  • Ensure candle is kept clean and doesn’t gather dirt or excess dust. If dirty or dusty, carefully clean the top of your candle with paper towel or lint free cloth.

  • To ensure your candle burns cleanly across the top, burn it one hour for each inch in diameter or until the wax pool extends from edge to edge.

  • Use a metal tool to straighten a curled or tilted wick to the opposite direction to correct uneven burning.

  • Extinguish candle by pushing wick into melted wax pool with a metal tool preventing afterglow and smoke. No metal wick tool? Use a candle snuffer. Never blow out candle.

  • For multi wick candles, always burn all wicks at the same time.

  • To ensure your candle burns cleanly across the top, burn 3-wick candles until all three beeswax pools join to form one large wax pool. Once candle has cooled to soft wax, give the top a "hug", beeswax expands when hot and shrinks back when cold. Gently hugging the top will push the wax towards the center, making an even burn for the next light. Repeat the process each time the candle is lit.

  • Votive candles should always be burned in a proper heat resistant votive holder slightly larger in diameter than the votive itself. Votive candles are meant to burn completely and will not contain their wax pool.

  • Before adding a votive to its holder pour in a few drops of water to just cover the bottom of the container. This will make cleanup easy. Always burn tea light candles in their aluminum containers or in a similar heat resistant container. Tea lights are meant to burn continuously until depleted
